"Glenn Vernon Downs LEOTI--Glenn Vernon Downs, 62, Leoti, died Thursday afternoon in Wichita County Hospital. He was born Oct. 31, 1900 at Clay County, but had lived in Leoti most of his life. He was a longtime rural mail carrier here. Mr. Downs was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Leoti, the Salina Consistory and Isis Shrine Temple.
Survivors include the widow, Alice, of the home; three sons, Glenn Downs, Wichita, Darrel Downs, Los Angeles, Calif., and Larry of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Edd Wells, Scott City and Mrs. Jerry White and Mrs. Leyon Hames, both of Leoti; four brothers, Jack and Lloyd Downs of Wichita, Emil Downs, Plains, and Horace Downs, Leoti; two sisters, Mrs. August Hahn and Mrs. Roy Buck, both of Leoti; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral will be Saturday at 3 p.m; in the Presbyterian Church at Leoti. The Masonic Lodge will conduct graveside services in the Leoti Cemetery. The Weinmann Funeral Home is in charge."--2 Nov 1962, The Garden City (KS) Telegram.
