George W.I. Call was born at Pittsburgh , PA, December 20, 1843 and died at Atwood, KS, March 19, 1918 at the age of 74 years, 2 months, and 19 days.
After finishing his education he removed to Ohio, later living in Iowa and Missouri. In 1892 he came to Rawlins County, where he resided until his death. In 1868 he was united in marriage with Mary J. Mason and to this union 14 children, 7 sons and 7 daughters were born, all of who are living except one daughter. The surviving children are Mrs. B.A. Queen, Leoti Kansas; Mrs. Wm Amy, Los Angeles, CA; Mrs. Wiseman, Gem KS; Mrs Bourquist, Los Angeles, CA; Mrs H.F. John, Blue Hill, NE; Mrs G.W. Davis, Potter NE; Alex Call, Downs, KS; James, C.J. and Roy of Gem, KS; J.M. of Achilles, KS; John of Sidney, NE; and O.A. of Bird City, KS. There were present at his funeral four sons and two daughters.
The funeral was conducted by the writer at the house of J.M. Call after which the remains were laid to rest in Achilles cemetery to await the resurrection Morn.

ATWOOD Lena Call, 91, Atwood, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006.
Mrs. Call was born Oct. 14, 1915, in Pawnee County, Neb. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Cecil F., died in 1980.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth of Colby and Darrell of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a daughter, Myrna Carter of Carter Lake, Iowa; a brother, Martin Waterman of Atwood; a sister, Verda Kramer of Pawnee City, Neb.; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Atwood. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Atwood.
Memorials may be made to Prairie Senior Living Complex in Colby or the church and may be left at any Colby bank or Kersenbrock Funeral Chapel, 745 S. Country Club Drive, Colby 67701.

Call of Ventura, Calif., Cecil Call of Colby, Kan., Mrs. Beryl Burge of Atwood, Kan., Earl Call and Mrs. Marguerite Mancuso of Stockton; also survived by 44 grandchildren, 78 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren; a native of Missouri, aged 92 years.

"Call Services In Roseland Sunday -- Funeral services were held in Roseland Sunday for Joseph M . Call, who passed away Friday, March 26 in Hastings. Mr. Call, 92 years of age at the time of his death, was a brother of Charles Call of Bladen, and Mrs. Jennie Jahn of Blue Hill. "Son of John Ramsey Sr. and Mary Black.
Served as a Sgt. in the 13th Virginia Regiment during the American Revolutionary War.
In 1784 Alexander sold his land in Virginia to his brother William and joined a band of pioneers (some 200) and traveled the Wilderness Trail through the Cumberland Gap into what would later become Fayette County, Kentucky. They settled on Big Stone Creek in what was to become Clark Co., KY. Alexander had married Mary (possibly Steele) while in Virginia and they had 7 children. Alexander Jr., John, William, Andrew, James, Sarah and Mary. By 1805, Alexander had acquired 600 acres of land and established the Sugar Ridge Presbyterian Church and graveyard on the Big Stone Creek."--Find-a-grave
