****Sometimes when our hearts grow weary Or our burdens look too heavy
And we deem the right all wrong, Then we gain a new, fresh courage
As we rise and brightly say, "Let us do our duty bravely--This was our dear Mother's way"
Thus we keep her memory precious While we never cease to pray,
That at last when lengthening shadows Mark the evening of life's day,
They may find us waiting calmly To go home our Mother's way.--Author Unknown

"OBITUARY -- Eliza Jane Stark was born near Marshall, Iowa, May 9, 1850 and passed away at Atwood, Kansas, October 19, 1925 at the age of seventy five years, five months and ten days. She grew to womanhood near the place of her birth.
On March 7th, 1871, she was married to G. H. Denny at Grandview, Ill., and to this union four children were born. Two daughters died in infancy.
The husband together with two sons, Arthur . and Guy E. of this county and one sister, Mrs. Anna Ketner of Grand Island, Nebraska, are left to mourn her passing. Also 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.
In 1885 Mrs Denny moved with her family from Illinois to Kansas and located near Atwood where she resided until her death.
She was converted in early childhood and united with the Christian church. After coming to Kansas she united with the Methodist church at Stevens Chapel. She assisted in organizing the first Sunday school at this place and was an active Sunday school worker and church worker. She was always confident of a saving grace and perfect salvation. All through her declining years she was an attendant at the church services whenever her health would permit.
A constant failing due to age culminated in her last illness of two months, during which all that medical skill and loving care could d proved of no avail. The last week she was in the hospital at Atwood from where she was called to her reward.
At her own request, a former pastor Rev. Albert D. Hall of Salina, was called to conduct the funeral services being assisted by Rev. Carl Walters, the present pastor. The services were held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, October 21 at Stevens Chapel. Grandma was one of the pioneers of the county. A large concourse of people were present as an expression of final respect. The floral offerings were beautiful.
She was laid to rest by the church she had served long and faithfully. Life's labor done, as sinks the clay. Light from its load the spirit flies While Heaven and earth combine to say, How blest the righteous when he dies."-- 29 October, 1925, The (Atwood KS) Citizen-Patriot.

Not listed in the 1860 Beaver county PA census, but wife and children are included.
Bob Porter of the Beaver County Historical Society replied in response to my query: "In a deed filed by Mr. Scott the executor of George Denny's estate it is stated that George died "on or about the 25th day of March 1855". As for finding a place of burial, a search of local cemetery records would take us about an hour without a promise of success."
