"NASHVILLE, Tenn. - It was a case of better late than never for the Lipscomb Lady Bisons softball team. Trailing 2-0 after five innings the Lady Bisons connected for four hits, two for extra bases, in the final two innings for a 3-2 comeback win over Tennessee State Wednesday afternoon at Draper Diamond at Smith Stadium. It was the first game for the Lady Bisons since April 20. The lack of game time as a result of COVID-19 restrictions showed early.

"It was ugly for a while," Lipscomb coach Kristin Ryman said. "It looked like we hadn't seen live pitching in two-and-a-half weeks. "It is hard when you can't really replicate that. You can have batting practice or use the hitting machines, but those things can only substitute for live pitching so much. We had to get comfortable again."

Lipscomb, in its regular season finale, extended its winning streak to three games. The Lady Bisons are 17-16. Tennessee State scored a pair of runs in the third inning but suffered its 13th straight loss. The Tigers fell to 8-30. Presley Leebrick broke the shutout in the sixth when she led off the inning by slamming a home run over the right field fence. "--5 May 2021, lipscombsports.com
