"Roy Leebrick of the Prairie Fork community was fatally injured when he reached into his jeep and pulled a loaded gun toward him by the barrel. The hammer caught on something and caused the gun to discharge striking him in the arm pit. Mr. Leebrick walked around the jeep and climbed in, telling his wife to take him to a hospital as quickly as possible. She drove three miles to a neighbor, Bob Tate, for help, but by the time she reached the Tate farm, Mr. Leebrick had bled to death."--16 Oct 1958, Warrenton (MO) Banner, reporting Montgomery county news.
