"Port Jervis - Mrs. Helen L. Gordon, 93, of Port Jervis, died Monday in Goshen. Born June 4, 1875, to Gabriel and Martha Louis Newman Furgerson, she was married to the late Santford L. Gordon. She was a member of the Drew Methodist Church and the Senior Citizens Club of Port Jervis. Surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. Rev. Frank Shannon will officiate at services.

"POIST. On October 11, 1979, YOLANDA CAROLYN (nee Hahn), beloved wife of Emmett C.C. Poist, devoted mother of Malcolm L. and Rev. David H. Poist, sister of Esther, Viola, Karl and John Hahn, and Helen Shannon. Also survived by two grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at Edw. S. MacNabb Sons, Inc., Cantonsville (where the Beltway exit 13 and Frederick road meet), on Saturday at 3 P.M. Burial in Loudon Park Cemetery. "Austin Kidd "Doc" Harris of Weyers Cave, Va. died surrounded by his family and friends on Wednesday, March 11, 2015. He was born in Faber, Va. on June 8, 1925 to Daisy Hill Harris and Wilkes W. Harris.

He lived most of his life in Nelson County. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Marine Corp. at the end of World War II after serving from March 1944 unitl July 1946. He was a Heavy AA Gun Crewman serving in the South Pacific and attained the rank of Corporal.Following discharge from the Marines he returned to Nelson County. After working several jobs in the local area he began his long career as an ironworker. He was a loyal member of Iron Workers Local #5 for over 35 years.

In 1950, Doc married Louise Leebrick. Following his work, he moved his family to Alexandria, Va. where he worked on numerous structures and government buildings. He worked throughout Virginia and always took pride in pointing out various structures he helped build such as E.C. Glass High School in Lynchburg. The family returned to live in Shipman, Va. in 1972. Doc continued to commute to the Washington, D.C. area to work for many years finally retiring in 1987.Doc was a hard worker always finding side jobs to supplement his income. He was one of only five individuals in the country certified by the Iron Workers Union to splice steel cable used to set the huge steel grinders. He would often commandeer his children to help with this process. Doc enjoyed being at home once he retired.

Doc was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Louise; and 10 brothers and sisters. He was the last surviving sibling. He will be sadly missed by his sons, Robert Harris and his wife, Louise, of Mount Sidney, John Glenn Harris and his wife, Cynthia, of Weyers Cave, and his daughter, Betty Harlow and her husband, Winston, of Lynchburg. Doc was especially proud of his grandchildren, Pamela Harris, Joseph Harris, and Amy Simmons; special grandchildren, Preston Fitzwater and Travis Kesterson; and great grandchildren, Bradley Simmons and Austin J. Harris. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He also considered his special caregivers as friends, Gary Talley, Clarence Cook, Daniel Smith, Zeke Craun, Pete Shull and Pam and Mike Sutton.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Shipman Baptist Church in Shipman with the Rev. Bryan Painter officiating. Interment will follow in the Davis Cemetery in Shipman.The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at the funeral home and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Weyers Cave Rescue Squad at 1235 Keezletown Road, Weyers Cave, VA 24486; or to Shipman Baptist Church, 746 Craigtown Road, Shipman, VA 22971.Arrangements are under the direction of Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston, Va. "Ruth Olive Leonard Smith was born to Susie and Ted Leonard of Douglas. Her brothers and sisters include Edward Leonard, Sam Leonard, Mary, and Lee. She was married to F. Ed Smith and together they had two children, Gordon A. Smith of Douglas and Barbara Smith Croffut of Lusk. She had 4 grandchildren, Megan R. Kubinski, Laura E. Smith, Debbie Walker, and Keith Crofutt. She is burried next to Ed in the Douglas Park Cemetery in the family plot."--Find-a-grave
"Ruth L. Smith. DOUGLAS--Funeral services for Ruth L. Smith, 77, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Nov. 29, 2007 at the Douglas Baptist Church with Pastor Roy Phillips officiating. Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Douglas Baptist Church.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. to noon.
She died Nov. 26, 2007, at the Douglas Care Center.
She was born Feb. 20, 1930, on the Leonard family homestead south of Shawnee, the daughter of Edward George "Ted" and Susan Olive (Leebrick) Leonard. The family moved to Douglas in 1943. She attended school in Shawnee, high school in Douglas, and college at the University of Wyoming and Chadron State College to become a teacher.
She taught at schools in rural Converse and Natrona counties in Wyoming and rural Morrill County in Nebraska. She was a homemaker as well as running the Douglas Motel for 38 years with her husband.
In 1951, she met Ed Smith and they were married in a private ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church in Cheyenne.
She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and working with people. She was a senior companion for many years and enjoyed visiting Michael Manor/Douglas Care Center to read the Bible to residents who wanted to listen. She enjoyed the outdoors and the mountains.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years; her son, Gordon Smith and friend of Douglas; her daughter, Barbara Crofutt and husband of Lusk; five grandchildren; one great grandson; a sister, Mary Ransdall and husband of Grand Junction, Colo.; brothers, Ed Leonard of Douglas and Sam Leonard and wife of Carlsbad,d Calif.; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lt. Col. Lee O. Leonard.
A memorial to the Douglas Baptist Church Missions Fund, 135 Pearson Road, Douglas, WY 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
