"Kent Douglas Skinner, 64, passed away June 12, 2016 at Greenview Regional Hospital, after a short illness.
He was born October 22, 1951 in Larned, KS. He spent much of his youth in southwest Missouri, where he played violin with a local orghestra. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marines, where he served in Viet Nam during the final years of the conflict. After the war, he continued to serve for several years, and reached the rank of Staff Sergeant before being honorable discharged.
He moved to Owensboro, KY to work as an electrical engineer, but when his facility was moved out of state, he chose to retrain as a nurse. He moved to Bowling Green, KY to attend Western Kentucky University, and then worked as a registered nurse from 1984 until 2001, when he was medically retired.
His interests and hobbies were diverse. He was an early adopter of personal computers, and was a founding member of both the BGCUG and BGAMUG computer users' groups. He was a computer programmer, and developed several utilities which saw widespread use in the early computer hobbyist community. He appreciated a wide variety of music, and learned to play both the violin and the guitar. He was also an avid motorcyclist.
He is survived by his wife Michelle Sterchi; son Wesley Skinner; daughter Tracy Freiberg; grandchildren Alexander Skinner and Audrey Wyatt; brothers Craig Skinner, Milton Skinner, and Brad Skinner; sisters-in-law Pam Skinner, Darlene Skinner, and Debby Skinner; brother-in-law Donald Sterchi; and daughter-in-law Bethany Skinner.
Memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bowling Green on Wednesday, June 15th at 10:00 AM.

"Wife Of Head Of Church Dies During Services -- SOUNDERTOWN, Pa., March 23 -- The revival services at the Brethern in Christ church at Silverdale, two miles east of here, were brought to a halt today by the sudden death of Mrs. Sarah Detweiler, 78-year-old wife of Bishop Joseph Detweiler, head of the church, during the services last night.
Aroused by the sermons of Rev. "Mrs. Clarence Lewis, 67, of 4213 Norbourne Blvd., was found dead at her home about noon Wednesday. According to Deputy Coroner Henry Burchett, death resulted from a heart attack.
She was the former Alma Hall and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, St. Matthews Woman's Club and a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star's Middletown Chapter.
Her survivors include a son, Donald B. Sterchi; a stepson, Glenn M. King, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Arch L. Heady Hikes Point Funeral Home, 4109 Taylorsville Road, with burial in Middletown Cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Thursday."--27 Apr 1972, The (Louisville, KY) Courier-Journal

"Larry D. Downs -- LEOTI -- Funeral for Larry D. Downs, 21, who died Friday in St. Catherine Hospital, will be 10:30 p.m. Monday at the First Methodist Church, Leoti, with the Rev. F.A. O'Kelley officiating. Burial will be in the Leoti Cemetery.
Downs died of injuries he suffered in a one-car accident 17 miles south of Dighton Feb. 26. He was born June 22, 1945, at Garden City.
