"CYRUS HOERNER DIED NEAR HUMMELSTOWN--Cyrus Hoerner, aged 80 years, died on Tuesday at noon, at the home of his grandson, Hoerner Cassel, north of Hummelstown. he is survived by the following children: Frank of Beaver Station; Harrison, of Palmyra; John C. and Mrs. George Calles, Mrs. Hetrick, of Hoernerstown; Mrs. John Markey of near Brinser's Mill; Mrs. Curtis Shoop and Mrs. Monroe Bell of Hummelstown. The funeral will take place from his late home about one-half mile north of Hoernerstown tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m. o'clock. Services will be held in the Lutheran church at Hoernerstown, and interment made in the Hummelstown cemetery."--2 Apr 1914, The Lebanon (PA) Daily News

"Effie May Canfield Succumbs to Extended Illness -- Effie Mae Canfield, 79, native of Iowa, who had been a resident of Helena for the past month, died Sunday night at 706 Cannon following an extended illness. She had come to Helena in February to make her home with her granddaughter, Mrs. A.D. Justice.
Born Dec. 24, 1873 in Bridgewater, Iowa, she was reared and attended school in Cass county, Iowa, and later lived in Creston.
In addition to Mrs. Justice, she is survived by a daughter, Verna Jenkins of Great Falls; a grand daughter, Mrs. Daniel klundt of Pasco, Wash., three great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.

"DEATH OF JAMES R. JONES -- PROMINENT MEMBER OF G.A.R. ILL A LONG PERIOD --Lived in Franklin County 30 Years, Coming From Osage--Funeral Wednesday Afternoon. -- James Randall Jones died at noon today at his home, 908 South Walnut street at the age of 75 years. He has been ill for eight weeks with a malignant disease of internal organs. He had lived in Ottawa for thirty years coming here from Osage County and was well known.
The deceased was born February 24, 1840 in Flemingsburg, Ky. He was married to Mary E. Gardner March 3, 1864 and she died at their home here, April 26, 1914. The children who survive are: Mrs. Elizabeth Snider, Ottawa; Mrs. Margaret Webb, Topeka; Mrs. Charlotte Wible, Chanute; William E. Jones, Ottawa; John M. Jones, Topeka; T.B. Jones, Baldwin.
The funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon from the home at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Fred M. Bailey of the First Methodist church and the G.A.R. will have charge of the services and burial in Hope Cemetery. The pallbearers will be S.F. Beeler, C. Fetter, Petere Kaiser, A. Morrow, J.S. Forgey and J.R. Glenn. He was active in the G.A.R. and former commander of George H. Thomas Post."--28 Jun 1915, The Ottawa (KS) Herald

"HELD THE JONES SERVICES..Many Beautiful Floral Offerings Were Sent to the Funeral -- The funeral services of the late James Randall Jones who died Monday at his home, 98 South Walnut street, were held yesterday afternoon from the home at 2 o'clock. Rev. Fred M. Bailey of the First M.E. church and the G.A.R. were in charge of the services and burial was in Hope cemetery.
The pallbearers, all of whom are members of the Post, were: S.F. Beeler, C. Fetter, Peter Kaiser, A. Morrow, J.S. Forgey and J.R. Glenn. Many beautiful flowers attested the esteem in which the deceased who had lived in Ottawa for thirty years, was held.
Mrs. R.T. Wadell and Henry J. Chenoweth sang as duets, "Rock of Ages", "Some Day We'll Understand" and "Face to Face." The six children who survive are: Mrs. A.E. Snider and W.E. Jones of Ottawa, Mrs. C.D. Webb, Topeka; Mrs. Charlotte Wible, Chanute; John M. Jones of Topeka and T.B. Jones of Baldwin. All of t hose from out of town have returned to their homes with the exception of Mrs. Webb.
Beside these children other relatives here for the services are C.C. Webb and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Webb of Topeka, Mrs. Celia Hill of Leavenworth, a sister-in-law of the deceased and two nieces, Mrs. John Foley and Mrs. Lee Tomison of Quenemo."--1 Jul 1915, The Ottawa (KS) Herald
