"Johannes Cassel, born 1639, and his wife, Mary, came to America in the ship " Jefries," and landed at Philadelphia, November 20, 1686, at the age of 47 years, from Kriegsheim, with his children. He was a weaver by trade and settled at Germantown, county of Philadelphia.
He was, presumably, a son of Julius or Yelles Cassel of Kriegsheim, in the Palatinate. They left Europe for America, March 20, 1686, consequently a journey or voyage of seven months. He died April 17, 1691, aged 52 years; resided in Philadelphia. He also signed the application for a charter for the Borough of Germantown, and was one of the committee or members of first council of Germantown.'--Daniel Kolb Cassel "Cassel Family in America"

"Civil War Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Sergeant in Company B, 70th New York Volunteer Infantry for action on May 5, 1862 at Williamsburg, Virginia. His citation reads "Capture of a flag after a severe hand-to-hand contest; was mentioned in orders for his gallantry." He was the first member of the Union Army to be awarded the Medal of Honor for the capture of a Confederate flag."--Find-a-grave

"Sioux Falls, SD ~ Kathleen “Kathy” Louise Leibrich, age 55, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday, March 24, 2019 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls, SD. Family will be present to greet friends for visitation beginning at 1:00 PM on Sunday until her funeral service.
Kathleen Louise Belton was born on December 2, 1963 in Spokane WA, to Dale and Sheila (Naccarato) Belton. Kathy spent the early part of her life living in Billings, MT, until her family later moved to Glendive, MT where Kathy grew up and received her education graduating high school in 1982. Kathy was introduced to Dale Richard during her high school years by some mutual friends. They were married following Kathy’s graduation in June of 1982. Kathy and Dale moved back to the family farm south of Wolf Point, MT were blessed with two children, Ryan and Courtney. Her children were her pride and joy and she loved being a mom. She was so proud of both her kids. But nothing lit her up like the love of her grandchildren. She was so excited to be a grandma and would talk about her grandchildren to anyone that would listen. Kathy was a stay-at-home mom and also babysat many of the neighbor kids.
Following the Kathy and Dale’s divorce, Kathy and Ryan moved to Billings, MT. She lived there for a few years before moving to Dickinson, ND to be closer to her sisters. Kathy was united in marriage with Craig Leibrich on January 5, 2005 in Winner, SD. Kathy and Craig made their home in Sioux Falls, SD in 2005 and Kathy was blessed with the addition of Craig’s two children Nick and Austin to join her family.
Kathy enjoyed bowling, and when she was no longer able to bowl, she loved traveling to bowling tournament to watch Craig. She also enjoyed riding in the truck with Craig and sightseeing all of the continental United States. She loved having her pets and had a passion for growing houseplants. Above all she loved her family and visiting with friends.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Craig Leibrich of Sioux Falls, SD; four children: Ryan (Jamie) Richard, Billings MT, Courtney (Jordan) Berglee of Wolf Point MT, Nick Leibrich of Sioux Falls, SD and Austin (Brittany) Leibrich of Coos Bay, OR; five grandchildren: Kolter, Kasen & Avai Berglee, Josh and Madison Leibrich; siblings: Steve Belton of Spokane WA, Tammy Naccarato of Dickinson, ND, Terri Rushby of Dickinson, ND and Cheryl Belton of Spokane WA; Craig’s siblings: Robert (LaDonna) Leibrich of Sheridan WY, Leonard (Delaine) Leibrich of Sioux Falls SD, Mark (Donna) Leibrich of Winner SD and Brenda (Greg) Bender of Winner, SD; Craig’s uncle, Kenneth Leibrich of Winner SD; four-legged family members: Scooter, Milo and Donnie; many nieces, nephews a host of other relatives and friends.
