The reason for placing Samuel as a son of Elijah is this research result from Linda Becker: "The Petition document states that Alexander is from Minisink and Samuel from the town of Deerpark. It also states that Elijah's surviving heirs are his widow Phoebe,Mary Jane and Oliver, minor children and the petitioners Alexander and Samuel his children. Cornelius is not shown to be a child of Elijah. Since this document is dated January 1844 Samuel to be of legal age would have to had been born by 1823. The 2 census records I have of Samuel show him residing in Deerpark.".
