"Oakland Valley. Mr. Oliver Gordon died at the residence of his son, William, at Cook's Falls, Aug. 20, of heart disease.
Mr. Gordon was born at Huguenot, Orange Co., on May 12th, 1828, where he resided until he grew to manhood, when he came to the town of forestburgh where he spent the most of his life.
He moved with his son to Cook's Falls, Delaware Co., in April last.
Mr. Gordon had been a great sufferer for the past three years, but he bore it patiently until he died. Mr. Gordon was a good citizen, a kind father and a good friend to all. He leaves to mourn his loss the following children: John Gordon of Oakland Valley, Mrs. Sarah Lane of Port Jervis, Eliza, wife of Nathan Durland of Rio, Orange Co., also the following brothers and sisters, Selah, Mrs. Sarah Gumaer and Jane, wife of Charles Burger, all of Rio, Orange Co., and Charles of Cook's Falls.
The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Wm. greenleaf, who preached an eloquent sermon from James 4:14. Interment at Hartwood."--2 Sep 1898, Republican Watchman (Monticello, NY).

"Died - Gordon, At Hartwood, Sept. 15th, Mary M., wife of Oliver Gordon, aged 64 years, 8 months and seven days.
Mrs. Gordon had been a patient sufferer for the past two years from a tumor in her side, and malaria, which caused her death. She was a loving wife, a kind and indulgent mother and a friendly neighbor. Her sympathetic nature and gentle ways endeared her to all who knew her. Her death will be sadly felt in the community where she resided. A husband and five children survive her; Sarah, Eliza and Selah, of Hartwood, and John and William R. "A SUDDEN DEATH. Mrs. Burger Sank Into Her Chair and Died Immediately.---Mrs. Jane Gordon Burger, wife of Charles Burger, of Cahoonzie, died very suddenly at her home at about four o'clock, Tuesday afternoon. She had been about the house all day, as usual, and went into the front of the house to do some work. Coming back where her husband was, she exclaimed, "Oh, I'm dying," and sank back into a chair, expiring almost instantly. She was in her 74th year.
Deceased was the daughter of Charles and Mary Rosencrance Gordon and was born at Huguenot. When a girl her parents removed to Hartwood, Sullivan county. On May 9, 1863, she married Mr. Burger and went to Forestburg to live, that being her home till 1891, when the family removed to Cahoonzie. Her husband and one brother, Charles Gordon, of Cook's Falls, survive. She was a member of the Congregational Church."--June 4, 1908, Middletown (NY) Daily Times-Press

"Port Jervis, Feb. 2 - Charles Gordon died at the home of his nephew, William R. Gordon, 12 Hamilton street at 9 o'clock Sunday morning, of old age and general debility. He was 80 years of age.
Deceased was born in Texas, Sullivan county, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gordon. His entire life was spent in Sullivan and Delaware counties. About two months ago he came here with his nephew.
A prayer service will be held at his house, 12 Hamilton street at 10:30 o'clock Wednesday morning and the body will be taken to Hartwood, N.Y., where services will be held at 1 o'clock in the afternoon. The interment will be at Hartwood."--3 Feb 1914, Middletown (NY) Daily times-Press

Gordon, editor of the Trinity Journal in 1861, founder of the Eureka West Coast Signal and a close friend of the late Judge DeHaven, United States Senator John P. Jones and other well known public men, died here yesterday, aged 82 years. He is survived by a son, two brothers and two sisters.
