"William Gordon - was born December 30, 1824, died March 11, 1873, aged forty-nine years. His marriage took place on July 15, 1860, to Melinda Masters, a native of Ohio, April 6, 1840, and their children, four in number, are all living; they are: John T., born January 29, 1861; Frances M., January 24, 1862; Lewis L., February 26, 1865; Emma Dell, April 1, 1873.

Mr. Gordon was a son of Samuel and Sarah (Ferguson) Gorden; settlers in Paulding county in 1825; Mrs. Gordon is a daughter of David and Wilhelmina (Rigel) Masters; the former born in Pennsylvania, August 8, 1807; the later born in Virginia, September 30, 1808.

Mrs. Gordon's former husband was William R. Burley, to whom she was married July 18, 1858, and his death occurred March 22, 1859, of typhoid fever. Mrs. Gordon and her sons conduct the farm. Address, Antwerp, Paulding county, Ohio."--Historical Hand-Atlas, 1882

"Edward George "Ted" Leonard, 97, died Saturday, Jan. 14 at Michael Manor following a long illness. He was the son of Alfred John and Caroline (Hardy) Leonard. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 17. He was a veteran of World War I. He was married to Susan Olive Leebrick on Aug. 9, 1920 in Lost Springs. They homesteaded 10 miles south of Shawnee and were in that area until 1943 at which time they moved into Douglas. He was a painter and carpenter in the Douglas area for several years. Susan died in 1958. He then married Marie Wickus on Oct. 2, 1968 in Douglas and she died in 1987. He is survived by three sons and two daughters, Edward G. Leonard Jr. and Sam Leonard, both of Douglas; Lee Leonard of Guadalajara, Mexico; Mary Ransdell of Bountiful, Utah and Ruth Smith of Douglas; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and 11 brothers and sisters. "--Find-a-grave

Jack Platter, with Nancy, his wife, and children, came to Defiance County from the southern part of Ohio, about the year 1824, per History of Defiance County. They had four sons--Jacob Jr., Louis, George and John, and four daughters - Betsy, Anna, Hannah and Mary. Jacob Platter, Sr., was killed by an accident while building a flat boat on the Maumee River. Louis was the only one of the family of children that settled in Delaware Township, in then Williams, now Defiance County. He was married February 24, 1831, to Elizabeth Gordon of t he same township. They had two sons, Oliver and William, and three daughters, Caroline, Harriet and Mary. William enlisted in the Fourteenth Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry, and died July 21, 1862, at Corinth, Miss. Louis Platter was born March 1, 1799, and died July 21, 1842. Of the children, but two are now living -- Oliver is now in Washington Territory and Harriet Dysinger is still living in the county".--History of Defiance County, Ohio.

"Mrs. Warren Mersereau, aged 65 years, died at her home on East Main street in Union at 10:20 o'clock last evening. Besides her husband she is survived by one brother, Bloomer Gordon, of Port Jervis. "Eleanor Margaret Gibson died peacefully on April 18, 2010 in Lakewood, Colorado at the age of 97.

Born on February 2, 1913 in Denver, Colorado, Eleanor graduated from North High School in 1931. She married James Gibson, on July 21,1945. Eleanor taught Sunday school and was active in Campfire Girls, Christian Women's Club, Bible Study, and Oasis. She was bookkeeper and business partner in two family businesses, Gibson Dairy and Dairy Queen, and a dedicated volunteer at St. Anthony Hospital for 20 years. Beloved by her family, Eleanor never met a stranger She loved to talk to everyone and made friends instantly wherever she went.

She is survived by her husband, James Gibson, Lakewood, Colorado; her son, Robert Gibson (Faye), Denver, Colorado; her daughter, Barbara Shearer (Ted), Lakewood, Colorado; six grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Nettie Deal and Louis Leebrick, and her brother, Edwin Deal Leebrick.

Visitation: Thursday, April 22, 6 ~ 8 p.m., Malesich and Shirey Funeral Home, 5701 Independence Street, Arvada. Services: Friday, April 23, 10 a.m., Crossroads Church of Denver (Wheat Ridge corner of 50th & Kipling). Interment immediately following, Crown Hill Cemetery, Lakewood.
