"Rites In Mesa Tomorrow For Sina Pearce Lewis -- MESA -- Funeral services for Mrs. Sina Pearce Lewis, 79, will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow in Meldrum Mortuary, with burial in Mesa Cemetery. Mrs. Lewis died Wednesday in a Phoenix hospital.
Born in Moccasin Springs, her family moved first to Taylor and came to Mesa in 1881. She lived here the remainder of her life.
Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Pearce, homesteaded the land which is now bounded by Country Club, Fourth Stree and Main and Alma School Road. With her husband, John Franklin Lewis, who died in 1936, she homesteaded east of Mesa. They farmed for some years in the Mesa and Lehi areas.
Mrs. Lewis, a practical nurse, assisted in the birth of more than 2,000 babies, her family recalled. At the death of her husband, she moved to some mining claims in the Superstition Mountains where she had since made her home.
She is survived by three sons, Ralph D., Mesa, and Georg M. and Henry M., both of Phoenix; four daughters, Mrs. Ida M. Neal and Mrs. Thelma M. Magee, both of Phoenix; Mrs. Anita Z. Griffin, Baron, Calif.; and Mrs. Neva Butler, Sonora, Calif.; three brothers, Zeb Pearce, Mesa; George Pearce, Glendale; and Jess Pearce, Ajo, a sister, Mrs. Zetta Parker, June Lake, Calif.; 19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren."--30 May 1958, Arizona Republic (Phoenix)

Family story: "NOTE - Moses Robinett - His Last Day - October 23, 1878
As told many years later to Lora Robinett (his grand daughter in law) by Adeline Todd Robinett (his daughter in law) and retold on Monday, April 17, 1972 to Dorothy Jeanne Robinett Topolosky.
Moses was ill, and as was his custom he came to his son Elihu and daughter in law Adeline for care and home remedy. They cared for him for some time and his recovery was nearly complete. He began to get restless, Adeline noticed him staring out the windows. These actions and habits were known to her as his desire to return home. Adeline suggested to Elihu that he make arrangements for his father's trip home. It was not far but required a train trip home. Elihu drove him to the train station and saw him safely aboard the train.
Long about evening, Adeline related that "they came and told us, Daddy had been killed by a train"
(facts learned later)
*Moses was not fully recovered from his illness
*He had been drinking on the train
*He fought with another person on the train
*He was forcibly ejected from the train
*He was struck by another train and fatally injured (either the B & O Train or the D.T. & Train)"
