"Wayne Walter Wed in New Mexico -- In an afternoon ceremony Sunday at the Methodist church, Roswell, N.M., Barbara Elaine Kubiak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Kubiak of Roswell, became the bride of Harold Wayne Walter, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Walter of Sublette.
The double ring nuptials were read by the Rev. Austin H. Dillon. High school classmates of the bride, Mrs. Richard Caldwell, organist, and Linda Heine, soloist, were musicians.
A white wrought iron bridal arch entwined with fern roping and pink and white daisies, and tied with white satin bows, formed the background for the ceremony. The chancel decorations featured the bride's chosen colors of pale pink, maroon and white in baskets of daisies, candelabra and palms. Pews were marked with fresh greens and white satin bows.
The bride wore an originally designed gown of Chantilly type lace over satin accented with a Javalier neckline, brief scalloped sleeves and a flowing skirt ending in a chapel train. Her elbow--length mitts of matching lace formed calla points at the wrist. A single white-fucia-throated orchid complemented with pink and white frenched carnations caught with tiny fans of pleated tulle fashioned her bouquet. A crown of pearls and iridescent sequins held her silk illusion veil. She wore the bridegroom's give of pearls and carried a white lace handkerchief which belonged to her maternal great grandmother.
Maid of honor was Carol Skinner, college room mate of the bride, of Colorado Springs. Nancy Nix of Eaton, Colo., and Sandra Hatcher, cousin of the bridegroom from Burlington, Colo., were bridesmaids. All three attendants are Delta Delta Delta sorority sisters of the bride.
Miss Skinner wore a waltz length gown of white nylon lace over deep pink taffeta and the bridesmaids wore white lace over pink taffeta, all styled on princess lines with deep-V yoke. They wore blush pink picture hats of taffeta lace and tulle embroidered in pearls and carried lace fans decorated with white rosebuds, frenched maroon carnations and pink daisies.
Jerry Walter, brother of the bridegroom, Sublette, was best man. Groomsmen were Poe R. Corn and Les Pelnar, Sublette. Don Moore of Copeland and Leon Faris of Portales, N.M. were ushers. Billy Johns was ring bearer. Men in the wedding party were all attired in full summer evening dress.
The reception took place in the undercroft of the church. Palms, baskets of pink and white daisies formed the background for the receiving line. The brides table, draped in net and taffeta caught with clusters of daisies and maroon carnations, was arranged with pink and white daisies and tiny pink wedding bells.
Mrs. Jerry Walter presided at the guest book and Mrs. Bob Baldock and Mrs. Ted Berckes served.'
The bride has attended Colorado State university for two years where she is majoring in home economics education. The bridegroom was graduated from Garden City junior college and is now a senior physical education major at Colorado State university. His fraternity is Sigma Phi Epsilon.
After a short wedding trip the bridal couple will be at home in Sublette until the middle of September when they go to Ft. Collins. Colo."--29 Jul 1957, Garden City (KS) Telegram
