"At the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maud LEWIS, in North Topeka, Joseph B. McCALL departed this life Jan. 19, 1914. He was a native of Missouri, having been born in that state, Sept. 29, 1844, and at his death was aged 69 years, 03 months and 20 days. He served three years as a union soldier in the Civil War, and for nearly thirty years was a resident of Perry and vicinity. For the past six years he has lived in Topeka, having made his home with his daughter, Mrs. LEWIS, since the death of his wife two years ago. For nearly twenty years he has been connected with the Methodist Episcopal Church. He was a kind hearted, law-abiding citizen, conscientious in the discharge of every private and public duty. As city marshal of Perry, he earned an enviable reputation for thoroughgoing devotion to the enforcement of law. For the past year he has been afflicted and realizing that recovery was hopeless, said that he was ready to go at any time, welcoming death as God's messenger to give him relief from pain, and an entrance into that better country. There remains to mourn his loss, three brothers and two sisters, two sons and one daughter, and seven grandchildren."--20 Jan 1914, Topeka (KS) Daily Capital

"Susan's first husband was Spencer Neale who died in Dec 1799 in Scott County.
Her second husband was John Osborn who died in Scott County, Kentucky in 1817. His probate record shows that Susan resigned as administrator in favor of her brother, John Williams. The next year Williams removed his family to Boone County, Missouri. Susan and at least five of her children moved there as well. This brother & sister were a part of a very large group which left Scott county for Boone. They were so organized that they were incorporated as the Smithton Group. John Williams died 6 June 1829. His wife, Frances Brent Williams, died 5 March 1843. They had ten children. The widow Susan most likely lived near the Williams family. John appears to have been older than his sister Susan.
Susan married Durrett Hubbard in Boone county. He was a widower who had six children who were adults. Hubbard died in 1848 & at some later date she went to Daviess county to be with her children."--Find-a-grave
