"John Franklin Bailey BLOUNTSTOWN --John Franklin Bailey, 76, of Blountstown, died Monday. The service will be 2 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home chapel, with burial at Wood Cemetery.
He was a lifelong resident of Calhoun county, a retired pulp wood worker and a Pentacostal.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Bailey of Blountstown; three sons, Charles and Arthur Bailey, both of Blountstown, and Wallace Bailey, of Crawfordville; four daughters, Nell Bailey of Blountstown, Carolyn Shuler and Patsy Godwin, both of Bristol, and Winnie Paulk of Marianna; three sisters, Dorene Spears of Tallahassee, Brinson Cloud of Blountstown and Margaret Freeman of Panama City; 23 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren."--20 May 1987, Tallahassee (FL) Democrat

"Mrs. Evie Lee Hiers BLOUNTSTOWN--Mrs. Evie Lee Hires, 80, of Marianna, died Tuesday at the Calhoun General Hospital in Blountstown. Mrs. Hires was a native of Jackson county and a resident of Calhoun county for many years. She was a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church, near Marianna.
Survivors include her husband, Floyd Hires, Marianna; three sons, Harry F. Green Blountstown; and John H. Green, Bristol; one daughter, Mrs. Florence Evelyn Davidson, Cropseyville, N.Y.; and two sisters, Mrs. Florence Davis and Mrs. Mattie Burge, both of Blountstown.

"Mrs. Hitchcock's Rites Are Today BLOUNTSTOWN--Funeral services for Mrs. Eva Barbara Hitchcock, 73, who died Saturday at her home in Clarksville, will be held at 3 p.m. today at Traveler's Rest Church.
Survivors include five sone, Jimmy, Alton, Julian Hitchcock, all of Clarksville; Ed Hitchcock, St. Augustine, Herman Hitchcock, California; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Cutchin, Panama City; Mrs. Ruth Jones, Weewahitchka; Ruby Lee Miller, and Mrs. Gladys Newsome, Clarksville; two brothers, Claude and Lynwood Barber, Georgia; 17 grand children and 9 great grandchildren.

"J. E. HITCHCOCK DIES IN CALHOUN --Widely Known Citizen Buried At Travelers' Rest --CLARKSVILLE, May 23.--The funeral of James E. Hitchcock, well known Calhoun county citizen, was held at Travelers' Rest church near here with services conducted by the Rev. J.C. Eldridge of Cottondale.
Pallbearers were Riley Hill, Byron Jones, Charles Suggs, Frank Marshall, James Nichols and Curtis Jones.
A native of Sumter county in Georgia, Mr. Hitchcock came to Florida in 1911 and made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Addie Laramore. He was 82 years old.
Others surviving include a son, M. Hitchcock of Clarksville; two sisters, Mrs. Harriett Cross and Mrs. Mary Fussell, both of Americus, Ga.; 14 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and other relatives."--24 May 1938, Pensacola (FL) News Journal

Jeremiah was the only child of Joshua Tillman and his first wife, Patsy Taylor. Lowndes Co, GA gave up land in 1856 in the formation of Colquitt Co, GA. Jeremiah's home-site was located in this area.
