"Dollar History. The Dollars came from the town "Dollar" in Clockman County, Scotland. That town is still there. They came to Plymouth Rock between 1620 and 1639. They came from Scotland to the thirteen colonies, and then later on moved to the Carolinas. After that, they later moved to Tennessee. Then they came on to Arkansas about 1840.
In 1790, the first year of the United States census, thee was only 13 Dollar families in the whole United States. We think? My Great Great Grandfather's name was John Dollar and his wife's name was Sarah. It is believed Sarah was a Cherokee Indian. We do not know how many chilren they had but Martin Samuel Dollar was born to them on May 15, 1821 and Marion Morgan Dollar was born August of 1825. Both sons were born in North Carolina. We believe a third son was named James Madison Dollar. Then a younger one named Cornelius Dollar (called Neal).
From North Carolina, John and Sarah moved their family to Tennessee, 190 miles from Nashville, then later to Madison County near Jackson, Tennessee. There Martin and Morgan met and married two Cherokee sisters. Martin married Jane Rebecca Ivy and Morgan married Nancy Ann Ivy. Neal later married an Ivy girl. Martin and Morgan moved their new wives to St. Francis county Arkansas around 1844. All their children were born in Arkansas.
In later years, Martin and Jane settled in Prim, QArkansas and Morgan and Nancy settled in Hector, Arkansas.
The Indian name Ivy (Ivey) is recorded in the 1839 Drennen rolls of the Cherokee Census in the state of Tennessee."--source and reliability unknown.
