"Salah Howe also spelled "Selah" was born in Westmoreland,New Hampashire. He was the first born child of ,Nehemiah Howe(1736-1777) and ,Ruth Warner(1742-1813).His Parents were married in,Massachusetts in about 1761.

Salah's father,Nehemiah Howe and Salah's grandfather,Joshua Howe (1716-1801) and their families settled on the Vermont and New Hampshire Frontier. They called their settlement lands the "Great Meadow"(township #2).Salah Howe's grandfather,Joshua Howe and Joshua's brothers,Caleb Howe,Samuel Howe and Abner Howe were all part of the early settlers on the "Great Meadow" which made up the current day towns of Westmoreland, New Hampshire, Hinsdale,New Hampshire,Vernon,Vermont and Putney,Vermont. Two generations of the Howe family endured many hardships with their fellow settlers on the Vermont and New Hampshire frontier. On Oct 11,1745 the father to the above mentioned Howe brothers,Nehemiah Howe (great grandfather of,Salah Howe)was captured by a band of Abenakis Indians on the Great Meadow and taken to a French prison in Quebec Canada where he died. While in prison he recorded his ordeal, detailing his captivity,in a journal which was published in 1747 and titled "A Narrative of the Captivity of Nehemiah How"

Salah Howe born July 29,1762 in Westmoreland,New Hampshire was the oldest of seven siblings. In order of birth,Salah Howe's siblings were as follows..
