"In the name of God Amen I Hester A McAllister of the Township of Lime Creek County of Washington State of Iowa being of Sound Mind and Memory and considering the uncertainty of this frail and transition life do therefore make ordain Publish and declare this to be my last will and testament, that is to Say: First after all my lawful debts are Paid the residue of My estate real and Personal I give bequeath and dispose of as follows, to wit: My Real Estate Situate in Washington County State of Iowa and described as follows, to wit: A part of the NE Qr of Section (25) twenty five containing (95) ninety five acres; and a Part of the SW qr of the SE qr of Section (24) twenty four containing thirty acres; also a Part of the NW qr of the NE qr of Section (25) twenty containing fifteen acres, all in Township 7 North of Range Nine West; To be sold and the proceeds thereof equally divided between my dear children Sarah Elizabeth McAllister, Nancy Caroline McAllister and John B McAllister.
Also three beds and bedding to be divided equally among the three forementioned children. The residue of my Personal Property to be divided squally among my five children to wit Samantha A Korb, Mary Jane Newland, Sarah E McAllister, Nancy C McAllister and John B McAllister.
Likewise I make constitute and appoint my Brother U. D. Coy and Lewis Longwell to be my Executors of this my last will and testament.
In witness whereof I have hereunto Subscribed my name this the 19th day of January one thousand eight hundred and sixty five.
The above written instrument was subscribed by the Said Hester A McAllister in the Presence and acknowledged by her to each of us, and She at the Same time declared the above instrument to be her last will and testament and we at the testators request and in her presence have signed our names as witnesses hereto...."--Washington County Wills, Vol 1-B 1864-1902, pg 29
