"Engagement of Eloise Hartzell to Felix Rossi, Jr., Announced--Mr. and Mrs. M.W. Hartzell of Woodland are announcing the engagement of their daughter, Miss Eloise, to Felix Rossi, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Rossi of Robbins. The wedding will take place in the late fall.
Miss Hartzell graduated from the Woodland High school in 1929. She attended the Sacramento Junior college, where whe was secretary of the Associated Women Students, social manager of the Depate Forum, secretary of the Theta Kappa honor society and a member of the Art League. Later, she attended the University of California, where she majored in art. She was a member of the promotion staff of the Daily Californian. Miss Hartzell is now employed at the Woodland City Library.
Rossi, who received his diploma from the Woodland High school in 1928, was active in many school projects. He was president of his junior class and also student body president and on graduating, was presented with the William M. Hyman Citizenship and Service trophy, given the best all-around student. He attended the Sacramento Junior college and the University of California at Los Angeles and is now a sophomore in the California Medical school. he holds memberships in Theta Delta Chi and Nu Sigma Nu, medical fraternity. He is president of the Medical class and is active in track, participating in the IC4A meet in 1o932, in Berkeley. He will continue his graduate work and following his graduation, will practice in either the bay region of Los Angeles.

"Maurice was the son of Max W. and Myrtle G. Hartzell; brother of Eloise M. Hartzell. The family was living in Sedan, Chautauqua County, Kansas, at the time of the 1920 census. By 1930, the family had moved to Woodland, California, and were still living there in 1940.

Maurice enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps on November 19, 1942, in San Francisco, CA. He was living in Yolo County, CA, at the time of his enlistment, had completed two years of college, was married, and working as an electrician.

Maurice and Mary lived in Woodland in the 1940s and 1950s and later moved to Sacramento."--Find-a-grave

"Obituary--MRS. R.M. HARTZELL-- Mary Ella Wait was born at Ravenna, Ohio March 22, 1851. In 1875 she was married to John M. Eads who died in 1880. To them two children were born, Alma W. Eads who died in 1894 and John Eads who lives at Arlington, Washington.
In 1885 five years after the death of Mr. Eads she was married to Randall M. Hartzell who died in 1918. To this union were born three sons and one daughter. Max W. Hartzell of Woodland, California, Dwight M. Hartzell who died in 1899. Harold C. Hartzell of Winfield, Kansas and Dorothy W. Rengler of Arlington, Washington.
She was a member of the Methodist church and had been an earnest Christian all her life, beloved by all.
Rev. Paul D.E. Holter, Minister of the Peru M.E. Church had charge of the brief funeral service Sunday afternoon at the cemetery. Interment was in the family lot."--Source unknown

Mary Ella received a pension beginning Aug 14 1889 based on Randell's disability and a pension beginning 16 Dec 1918 because of his death.

"Mary Tierney, M. W. Hartzell Exchange Vows Mary B. Tierney will change her name to Mrs. Maurice W. Hartzell at a ceremony at 1 P.M. tomorrow in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at Thirty Second Street and First Avenue. Rev. P.J. O'Sullivan will officiate.
The bride elect will be preceded up the aisle by Bettie Lou Tierney as the maid of honor. Mary Jane Jordan and Patricia Green as the bridesmaids and Sharon Rossi as the flower girl. She will be given in marriage by a lifelonng friend of her family, Ralph P. Thornton.
White gladioli and candelabra will decorate the church. Mae Williams will play the Ave Maria and the wedding marches as the organ.
The bride elect will wear a starched embroidered net frock in white over a stiff crinoline petticoat. The bodice is fitted and has a deep heart shaped neckline. Running around the upper bodice, under the net, is a wide band of pale blue ribbon ending in a bow at the center front. The sleeves are long and tight. She will wear a wide brimmed crownless hat of pleated tulle, edged with blue ribbon tied in a large bow at the back with floor length streamers. She will carry a soft shower of pale blue delphinium and chiffon daisies.
Her attendants have chosen full skirted frocks over crinoline petticoats, in a light cornflower blue. Matching runchings of lace will mark the hipline and form the bodice and outline the square neckline. The sleeves are long and full. They will wear matching wide brimmed crownless ats of net and carry mixed boquets of white flowers. The little flower girl will be similarly attired.
the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. Bernice Tierney, at 27701 Third Avenue, will be the settting for the reception which will follow the ceremony. There Mrs. Tierney will greet her guests wearing a navy blue afternoon frock accented with red and white navy accessories and a white orchid corsage. She will be assisted by Mrs. M.W. Hartzell, the bridegroom's mother, who will wear a navy blue and rose costume and an orchid corsage...
The newlyweds will make their home in Berkeley where the bridegroom is engaged in naval defense work.
The bride elect is a graduate of Seattle, Washington schools and the Sacramento Junior College, where she was affiliatged with the Como Amiga Sorority. Her husband to be is the son of Mr. and Mrs. M.W. Hartzell of Woodland, Yolo County, where he attended school.
