"Catherine Irene Leebrick, age 76, of Chesapeake, Virginia passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023
She was born on December 31, 1946 in Norfolk, VA. She was the seventh of the children of the late Tinsely R. and Tessie B. Leebrick. She joins her siblings, Tinsley R. Leebrick, Jr., Joyce Crockett, Calvin Leebrick, Arnold Leebrick, Charles Leebrick, and Iris Ortega, and her 2nd daughter, Catherine DeAndera Potter, in eternal rest.
Irene had three children with former husband, Marvin R. Potter, of South Norfolk VA. She is survived by her oldest and youngest daughters and sons in-law, Tessie Marie and Donald Marler, and Angelina Raye and Jeffrey Hebb. She is also survived by six grandchildren, Jared Nathaniel, Raymond Vance and wife Constance, Rebekah Marie, and Donald Isaac Marler, Tyler Scott and Emma Irene Hebb, and one great grandson, Alden Ray Marler, along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Irene was a 1965 graduate of Great Bridge High School. She raised her family in Virginia Beach, VA. She was a civil service Coding Clerk for the Naval Safety Center, Norfolk, VA and retired in 2006. She enjoyed crafting, cooking, decorating, shopping, and spending time with her family.
Irene lost her daughter, Cathy, to suicide three years ago. Tessie and Angel ask, in lieu of flowers, please consider donations to The Lifenet Health Foundation or the American Foundation for suicide prevention.
A memorial service will be held at Moyock United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 4th at 2:00 pm. A reception and luncheon will be held in the fellowship hall immediately after the service.
