On Thursday night at 11:40 William Gordon passed away at his home in Cuddebackville, in the 77th year of his age.
Deceased was born on a farm adjoining the one where he died and now occupied by his brother, his whole life having been practically passed in one place.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Fred Gordon, of Akron, O., and one daughter, Mrs. Ervin Y. Hunt, of Matamoras, Pa. A brother, George, of Cuddebackville, survives him, as does also a sister, Mrs. Adaline Ayers, of this city.
The funeral occurred at Cuddebackville at 2 p.m., Sunday and interment took place in the cemetery at that place.

"Mrs. L. Adaline Ayres died Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, at her home, 36 Linden avenue.
Although she had suffered for several years with rheumatism, her last illness was of only two weeks' duration, the cause of death being an affection of the heart.
Mrs. Ayres was born near Cuddebackville in 1832, and was the daughter of Hannah Gumaer and Selah Gordon. In 1858 she married Jesse Ayres, who died in 1897. One son, George, [died] at the age of five years.
Two daughters survive: Nettie, wife of C. D. Van Inwegen, of Newark, N.J., and Anna Belle, wife of Charles Purdy, with whom she made her home, and one grandson, Earl J. Van Inwegen, of Newark, N.J. Both of her daughters cared for her during her last illness.
Mrs. Ayres had been a member of the First Congregational Church for many years. She was a great reader and her chief interest in life was her home, where she will be greatly missed."--Orange County Times-Press (Middletown, NY), Tuesday, September 19, 1911, page 5

William Gordon was married twice. His first wife was Sarah J. Platter.

William Gordon - was born December 30, 1824, died March 11, 1873, aged forty-nine years. His marriage took place on July 15, 1860, to Melinda Masters, a native of Ohio, April 6, 1840, and their children, four in number, are all living; they are: John T., born January 29, 1861; Frances M., January 24, 1862; Lewis L., February 26, 1865; Emma Dell, April 1, 1873.
Mr. Gordon was a son of Samuel and Sarah (Ferguson) Gorden; settlers in Paulding county in 1825; Mrs. Gordon is a daughter of David and Wilhelmina (Rigel) Masters; the former born in Pennsylvania, August 8, 1807; the later born in Virginia, September 30, 1808.
Mrs. Gordon's former husband was William R. Burley, to whom she was married July 18, 1858, and his death occurred March 22, 1859, of typhoid fever. Mrs. Gordon and her sons conduct the farm. Address, Antwerp, Paulding county, Ohio.
From Probate records: Lewis S Gordon named as executor of William Gordon's estate on 2 June 1874. Same day, he and Coe Gordon posted $1400 bond as executors..
Text of William's will, filed 31 May 1875: "To the honorable, the probate court, within and for the county of Paulding and state of Ohio:
Your petitioner, Lewis S Gordon, administrator of the estate of William Gordon, deceased, respectfully represents that the total value of the personal estate and effects of said decedent is as near as can be ascertained, seven hundred dollars.
That the amount of debts owing by the deceased, as nearly as they can now be ascertained amount to nine hundred follarss, and the cost of administratioin to about one hundred and fifty dollars.
The personal estate and effects are insufficient to pay said debts.
The decedant died seized in fee simle of the following real estate, situated in the county of Paulding and state of Ohio:
1. The North fraction less nine acres of North West corner of Section No. Twenty-four (24) in Township No. three (3) North of Range No. one (1) East, containing one hundred and six (106) acres of land, more or less.
2. Also, all of East half of South East quarter of Section No. thirteen (13) in Township No. three (3) North, of Range No. one (1) East, lying North of the Maumee River, Except thrirty (30) acres off North and of said tract,, herefofore sold to Isaac R.Robinson, said part remaining unsold containing thirty six and forty five hundredths (56 45/100) more or less.
That decedent died, leaving Melinda Gordon, his widow, who is entitled to dower in saide premises.
The following persons are the heirs at law, having the next estate of inheritance in the premises above described from the said decedent, namely: George P. Gordon who is of full age, Samuel Gordon, Coe Gordon, William Gordon, John Gordon, Francis Gordon, Lewis gordon and Emma D Gordon, who are minors, all of whom live in the county of Paulding and in the State of Ohio except William Gordon, who resdes in the conty of Allen and state of Indiana.
Your petitioners pray that the said widow, and the said heirs at law, having the next estate of inheritance in said premises from said decedent, be made partiess defendant to this petition, that the dower of said Melinda Gordon may be set off, and that your petitioners may be empowered to sell said reall estate, for the payment of said debts and for other proper relief.
