Price, Mr. Aaron Gardner of Perry, and Mrs Elizabeth Denman, of Oskaloosa. We extend our congratulations and best wishes, with thanks for the kind remembrance. The bride received remembrances from friends in the shape of wedding presents.

"The Reformed Church Of Cuddebakville, at a meeting held in the school-house, Nov. 26, 1853. executed a certificate of incorporation. The proceedings were signed by Hiram Slauson, Lewis Cuddeback and Samuel Gordon. The trustees chosen were Moses Van Inwegen, William Cuddeback, William C. Roe, Ezekiel R. Gumaer, Lewis Cuddeback, William Littell, and Alexander Gordon."--History of Orange County, New York, pp 726-7
"Alexander Gordon, who has been for many years identified as one of the oldest and most highly respected residents of Port Jervis, died at that place Sunday evening at 7:30 o'clock of apoplexy and paralysis.

Deceased was born in the town of Greenville Dec. 20, 1819. When he was but two years old his father removed to within two miles of Cuddebackville, where Mr. Gordon died. The son remained on the farm until 1869 when he removed to Port Jervis and bought the Gordon Hotel property on Front street, where he died. He has been identified with many of the public offices and institutions since he became a resident of that place, being Highway commissioner, collector of the town of Deerpark, Justice of the Peace and a director of the First National Bank of Port Jervis. At one time he held the position of Vice-President of the old Savings Bank of that village, besides several other public positions.

Deceased was married to Miss Ruth Blizzard, of the town of Mount Hope, who survives him, besides the following children: Alice, wife of Warren Mersereau, of Union, N.Y.; James Wallace Gordon, of the First National Bank of Port Jervis, whose wife was Miss Clara Arnout, of Dolsontown, and Bloomer and Oliver S., of Port Jervis."--11 Jan 1892, Middletown (NY) Daily Times

Alexander was named administrator of his father Elijah's estate, along with brother Samuel.

Name drawn to serve as Petit Juror at Orange County November 1896.
Was named as night police for the town of Port Jervis in September 1878. As reported in the newspaper: "It seems the troubles between the President and the Board of Trustees in regard to police appointments are not yet ended. Monday morning a writ of certiorari was served upon Mr. Sylvander Merritt as President of the Board of Trustees, by John W. Lyon, esquire, attorney for Mr. Oliver B. Gordon. The President had appointed Mr.. Gordon as night police which measure the Board not only refused to ratify but took action to show that the body did not consider the President had authority to make appointments without the sanction of the Board. Mr. Gordon's place was accordingly filled by another by order of the Board." 24 Sep 1878, The (Port Jervis, NY) Evening Gazette.

In Mar 1871, Oliver was named a delegate in the third district by the Democrats to meet in convention at the house of Alex. Gordon, in Port Jervis.

In a list of Commissioner of Highways in Deerpark, Elijah served in 1833 and 1839. Selah Gordon served in 1831, John Gordon in 1834, Alexander Gordon in 1859, Oliver B Gordon in 1873-76. This per the Evening Gazette (Port Jervis, NY) of 15 Apr 1876.

Enlisted in Capt. Jas. D. Wadsworth's Company of Col. Samuel Hawkins' 2nd US Vol Regiment on 3 Nov 1812. Active duty began 1 Jan 1813 thru 10 Nov 1813 at a rate of pay of $16 per two months. Rank was Private. This company was raised from Orange County.

Alexander was named administrator of his father Elijah's estate, along with Alexander's brother Samuel. Probate records are found under the name Elizah Gordon.

Port Jervis, Nov. 18 - George Gumaer Gordon, one of the oldest citizens of the town of Deerpark, died suddenly on Monday afternoon of apoplexy. He was aged 86 years.

Mr. Gordon was walking in the fields near the home of his son, Santford L. Gordon, at Cuddebackville, with whom he resided, when he was seized with the fatal attack and died before medical attention could be given.

Dr. G. Otto Pobe and Coroner E. J Harding, of this city, were called and after an investigation, decided that death was due to apoplexy.

Mr. Gordon, who was the son of Selah Gordon and Hannah Gumaer Gordon, was born on November 22d, 1827, in the town of Deerpark on the farm, where his entire life was spent. On February 1st, 1862, he was united in marriage with Jane Decker Gordon. The death of Mrs. Gordon occurred in 1903.

Mr. Gordon was a substantial citizen, highly respected and beloved by a host of friends who will learn of his death with deep sorrow and regret. He was the last member of his family.

The survivng relatives are one son, Santford L. Gordon, of Cuddebackville; two daughters, Miss Clarissa Gordon, of New York city, and Mrs. Hannah Gordon, of Gillett, Bradford county, Pa.; two step-sons, John and Emmett Gordon, of Matamoras, Pa., and two stepdaughters, Mrs. William Gordon, of Gillett, Pa., and Mrs. Helen Van Etten, of Stroudsburg, Pa.

The funeral will be held at the home of Santford L. Gordon at Cuddebackville at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon, services conducted by Rev. J. S. Laing, of Otisville. Interment in Cuddebackville Cemetery.
