"REINOLD Fern Forbes Shoemake, 65, of Blanchard, died January 3rd at a Norman hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel.
Ferne was born June 7, 1932 at Marienthal, Kansas, the daughter of Merlin & Zola Lillian (Gardner) Forbes. She was reared in California and moved to Oklahoma when she married. She worked as a meat wrapper for Skaggs Albertson and retired in 1989.
Survivors include daughters, Florence Lemons, Charlene Hughes, Cheryl Daly and Kaye Barta. A sister Bonnie Trumble; brothers Ronnie Forbes; Larry Forbes and Melvin Forbes.
Fern loved dancing and could dance till dawn with any willing partner. She was an excellent gardener with an amazing green thumb. She loved horses and spent her younger years backpacking in Yosemite Valley. She enjoyed going to casinos to play black jack. "JACOB MARTIN Funeral services for Jacob (Jake) Martin Sr., 86, of Mitchell, will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church. The body will lie in state from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Will Funeral Chapel with scripture reading at 8 p.m. Monday evening. Burial will be in St. Peters Catholic Church cemetery at White Lake at 1 p.m. He was born in Seneca, S.D. on July 30,1890 to Mr. and Mrs. John Martin. He married Elizabeth Peters on Nov. 18, 1934. She died in 1939. He married Agnes Liebrich on July 1, 1947. She died in 1958. He married Esther Shearer on Nov. 28, 1964. He farmed in the Aurora County until retiring in 1954 when he moved to Mitchell. He died June 16 at a local hospital. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife; six children, Mrs. Clara Mettel of Plankinton, Clarence of Chamberlain, Mrs. Luicille Trimble of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Mary Allen of Rapid City, Jake Martin Jr. of Mitchell and Mrs. Ella Lee Schmitz of Fresno, Calif.; two brothers: Nick of Mitchell and John of White Lake; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Naomi Ruth Sullivan Wallis, age 84 of White Hall died Saturday May 22, 2010 at White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born May 20, 1926 in Melvern, Kansas, the daughter of Harry Aaron and Rosa Alice Thompson Gardner. She married Richard Thomas Sullivan, November 5, 1943 at Bowling Green, Missouri, and he preceded her in death November 22, 1994.
She later married Albert Russell Wallis November 7, 1999 and he survives. Also surviving is a son Jack (wife Gladys) Sullivan of White Hall, seven grandchildren, Garrett Rogers, James Rogers, James Sullivan, Thomas Sullivan, Everett Sullivan, Bobbie Jo Starkweather and Ethan Holland, along with twelve great grandchildren. She has three sisters and a brother surviving, Ethel Moore of Phoenix, AZ, Eunice Shaw of Carrollton, Jane Milsap of BelAir KS., and Paul Gardner of Peoria.
She was preceded in death by a son James Sullivan, and two daughters, Verna Rogers, and Cheryl Starkweather Holland, and three brothers, Ted, Russell , and Emery Gardner.
Ruth worked for many years at Hunt's Variety Store , and later worked for several years at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home. She loved to travel, and had been to every state except Hawaii. She was a collector of Indian dolls, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in White Hall. Memorial services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, May 29, 2010 at Calvary Baptist Church in White Hall.
