"WARWICK, RI - It's an honor to receive one Purple Heart. World War II veteran Robert Liebrich, who died in 2014 at age 88, now has received two of them. On Friday, U.S. Cong. Jim Langevin presented his widow, Cranston resident Carol Liebrich, with a Purple Heart with a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, signifying the second Purple Heart he was awarded.
At 18, Private First Class Liebrich was wounded by enemy fire in events leading up to the Battle of the Bulge, according to the press release from Langevin's office. That battle began in December 1944 and was the last major German offensive campaign of the war.
Liebrich was awarded his first Purple Heart, due to that injury. But after a quick recovery, he returned to his unit. Then in March 1945, he took another bullet. He was not awarded the second Purple Heart for the injury at that time, Langevin's office said."--8 April 2017, Cranston (RI) Patch

_____
HON. JAMES R. LANGEVIN

in the house of representatives
Thursday, April 6, 2017
Mr. LANGEVIN. Mr. Speaker, it is my solemn privilege to recognize the late World War II veteran Private First Class (PFC) Robert Liebrich of Rhode Island. Tomorrow, it will be my honor to present Carol Liebrich, his widow, a Purple Heart with Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster for PFC Liebrich's meritorious service with the Army after being shot in the arm during an engagement with opposing forces. This is the second Purple Heart for PFC Liebrich, who was first injured after being shot in the abdomen in events leading up to the Battle of the Bulge, which began in December 1944. He was only 18 years old when he sustained both injuries.
We owe our Soldiers who fought in World War II an enormous debt of gratitude, and PFC Liebrich is no exception. Mr. Speaker, I would like to thank PFC Liebrich and his widow, Carol, for dedicating their lives to the service of our Nation and for defending humanity and human dignity during one of our world's most pressing crises. It will be a great and humbling honor to present this award to Mrs. Liebrich for her husband's heroism."--6 April 2017, Congressional Record Online
