"Mrs. Catherine Koch, a pioneer resident of this county, died suddenly at her home in Liberty township Thursday night. Mrs. Koch, who is past eighty years, seemed to be feeling better than usual Thursday and retired about nine o'clock. Her sister was aroused in the night by hearing her breathing heavily and tried to awaken her. Failing in this, she called for her son, Andrew Koch, but before he reached his mother's bed side she had passed away.
Mrs Koch was born in the old country and came to Hamilton county with her parents when a child of three years. Following her marriage with William Koch, they moved here in the early settlement of the county, locating on the farm where her death occurred.
Surviving her death are the following children, David, Andrew, John, William and Philip Koch, Mrs. John Auselmann, residents of Liberty township and Mrs. Philip Cable, Ft Wayne. Funeral services held Sunday at the Lutheran church at Chattanooga with Rev. Kauffman in charge of the services."--18 Nov 1910, The Standard

A native of Woodbridge, Connecticut. Her parents emigrated to Ohio about the year 1796, at a time when the State was very thinly settled, following a trail which was marked by the blazing of trees. Were among early immigrants from Connecticut upon the "Western Reserve", that portion of Northeastern Ohio originally belonging to the State of Connecticut. Traveled on horseback to the new home of her parents in Ohio. Lived in Mesopotamia until her marriage. She was a devoted wife and mother, whose home was her delight, and to whose hospitalities friends were always welcome. A lifelong member of the Methodist Episcopal church, her last audible words were "Jesus, receive my spirit."
