Funeral services for Joseph Y. Dollar, 79, were held Friday morning in the First Methodist Church at Van Buren, Ark., with the Rev. J.M. Barnett officiating.
He died unexpectedly in a Fort Smith hospital last Tuesday.
Dollar, a resident of Van Buren the past 25 years, had been employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad as roadmaster. He had completed 53 years of service at the time of his retirement nine years ago.
An active member of the Van Buren church, he had served on its official board. He served as custodian of the building until ill health forced him to give up the duties in January.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Judsonia, Ark., Scottish Rite at Fort Smith, and Eastern Star.
Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Beulah Dollar of the home; three sons; one daughter; eight grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Burial was in Gracelawn Cemetery with Masonic services at the graveside.

Thursday, September 22, 1994, in a local nursing home. She was a member of Heritage United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of Fidelity O.E.S. No. 86 and past worthy matron, past president of U.M.W. of the First Methodist Church, past president of the MOPAC Booster Landies Club, member of the G.A.M.A. of her church a member of the Firendship Sunday School Class and the widow of J.Y. Dollar.
Funeral was held at 2 p.m. September 24, 1994 in Ocker Memorial Chapel with burial at Gracelawn Cemetery.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty Jane; a stepson; Amos; three sisters, Mary, Mildred, and June; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers were the Friendship Sunday School Class members.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage United Methodist church Building Fund.

Tommy David "Tom" Dollar, 70, long time resident of Anadarko, was called home by the Lord on Monday, February 20, 2012 at Southwestern Regional Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was born September 20, 1941 to Amos Y. and Vera Belle (Sagely) Dollar in Fort Worth, Arkansas. He received his Bachelors Degree in Teaching from Tallequah College, He was united in marriage to Goldie Ann Willit on July 3, 1965 in Miami, Oklahoma. From this union was born three children. Tom has taught in Arizona, Oklahoma and Kansas. He and Goldie moved to Anadarko where he retired after eighteen and 3/4 years from the BIA and the Department of Interior. He was a third degree Master Mason. He enjoyed playing the trumpet and the piano. He had a great passion for music. His greatest love was for his family. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He was very head strong. He always enjoyed visitors. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Goldie; one brother, A.Y. Dollar Jr.
He is survived by, two daughters, Sheryl Derryberry and husband, Steve of Fletcher, OK, Alice Rickel and husband, David of Topeka, KS, one son, Dwayne Dollar of Fletcher, OK, one grandson, Taylor Derryberry and one granddaughter, Krista Faith Derryberry, two brothers, Robert Dollar and wife, Carolyn of Stergent, Missouri, Jimmy Dale Dollar and wife, Phyllis of Lake Worth,, TX, one sister, Mary Jane Dollar of Mobille, Missouri, nieces and nephews, Susan Carol Dollar, Joe Paul, Brian and Jimmy Dewayne, Darrick and Tia and other relatives and friends. Graveside service will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Memory Lane Cemetery with Rev, Glenn Alley officiating. Under the direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko, Oklahoma.
