War of 1812, Samuel enlisted as a private Mar 29, 1813. Samuel was in Captain Archibald Morrison's company of infantry in the Kentucky Militia Detached until 28 Sep 1813. Enlisted again Nov 10, 1814 for 6 months and served in Captain William Wood's company in Kentucky.

DEATH CLAIMS AN AGED WOMAN. Mrs. Sarah Jane Watkins, 82 years old, is dead at her home in Centerville. She was a lifelong resident of this county, and a member of the Central Presbyterian church of South Brownsville.
Surviving Mrs. Watkins are six sons and three daughters and fifteen grandchildren. The children follow: John Archie, Annie L and S. W. Watkins and Mrs. Emma Watkins Garwood, at home; Charles H Watkins and Mrs Etta ... of Centerville; William L Watkins of Bentleyville, L. B. Walters of Leavittsburg, O and D. D. Watkins of South Brownsville.
Funeral services will be held at the Watkins home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, in charge of her pastor, Rev. W.T. Swain, asssisted by Rev. Mr. Garland. Interment will be in the Taylor cemetery.

Obit from The Daily Jeffersonian, Cambridge, OH, courtesy of Sue George. William W. Steel--An illness of several weeks' duration culminated in death Saturday afternoon at 3:15 o'clock to William W. Steel, 79 at his home on Cambridge R.D. 7. Until his health failed he had been a miner. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Steel, and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Myrtle Steele, Hamilton, O; Mrs. Emma Stewart, R.D. 4; Mrs. Eva Chalfant, Mrs. Virgie Church and Mrs. Gertrude Kissinger of R.D. 7; and Miss Margaret Steel of the home; Arden J. of Akron; John of Hamilton and Mose Steel of Wellston. One sister, Mrs. Katherine Swaninger (sic), of Cleveland, also survives. Five brothers and one sister are deceased. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home by Rev. McLeod, pastor of the East Cambridge M. E. Church. Interment will be made at Northwood cemetery.
