1940 Census: apprentice at brass factory

"George A. Liebrich Jr., 69, of Grace Street, a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service for several years, died Sunday at St. Joseph Hospital, Providence. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Geoerge A. Liebrich Sr., and Lillian Anna-May (Leicht) Liebrich. Mr. Liebrich was a World War II Army veteran.

He leaves three sisters, Ann L. Hayes of Warwick, Barbara Liebrich of Port Charlotte, Fla., Jean C. Liebrich of Cranston, and a brother, Robert A. Liebrich of Cranston.

A graveside service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. "--11 Oct 1988, Providence (RI) Journal

Was owner/operator of his own trucking company. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was also a member of OOIDA for more than 30 years. Gerald enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing and pheasant hunting with his family. He liked to farm and go to the fair. He also liked to do yard work.

In 1950 census, was living with step parents Jake and Agnes Martin and three siblings, Tom (12), John Jr (7) and Marlene (5).

"Gerald J. Leibrich NORTH SIOUX CITY -- Gerald J. Leibrich, 70, of North Sioux City died unexpectedly Friday, March 30, 2007, at Floyd Valley Hospital in Le Mars, Iowa.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Revs. Craig A Collison and Brent Lingle officiating. Burial will be in McCook Lake Cemetery, McCook Lake, S.D. Visitation with the family present will be 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, with a rosary at 6:45 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, Condolences may be sent online to www.meyer-broschapels.com.
Gerald was born April 15, 1936, in White Lake, S.D., the son of John N. and Agnes C. (Roth) Leibrich. He married Betty J. Krumvieda on Jan. 19, 1955, in Mitchell, S.D. She preceded Gerald in death on June 29, 2006, In Sioux City. Gerald was the owner/operator of his own trucking company.

Survivors include seven daughters, Carla Leibrich of McCook Lake, Patricia (Clay) Torevell of North Sioux City, Mary Leibrich and Mike Cooper of North Sioux City, Lori Leibrich of Elk Point, S.D., Julie (OEdward) Barrett of Sioux City, Janet Lingle of McCook Lake, and Jody Leibrich of North Sioux City; a son James Leibrich of White Lake, S.D.; eight grandchildren, Chad Torevell, Melissa Torevell, Jeramie Barrett, Deacon Brent Lingle, Michael Torevell, Clayton Leibrich, Keith Lingle and Brandon Cooper; four great-grandchildren, Ian, Riley, Gabriel and Marik; two brothers, Tom (Donna) Leibrich of Minneapolis, Minn., and John (Carol) Liebrich of Anoka, Minn.; a sister, Marlene (Laren) Jordan of Davenport, Iowa; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, Nephews and cousins. "Pats" was employed at Swift & Co. in the poultry department and also tended bar at Jim's I-29 Lounge until her retirement in 2001. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She loved cooking for her family, family gatherings and running a daycare for her grandchildren. Betty also enjoyed fishing for bullheads.

"Jacob Liebrich, a well known farmer living near Plankinton, was badly bruised and cut and had a narrow escape from death as the result of being attacked by a vicious bull in his pasture. She married Nicholas Hanten on January 17, 1917 in White Lake, South Dakota. Together they had twelve children.

Susan is survived by her husband, Nick; six daughters, Catherine (Earl) Flanagan, Rock Valley, Iowa; Irene (Jack) Ryan, Kimball, SD; Anastasia Hanten, Richfield, Minn.; Loyola (Merritt) Myers, Avon, SD; Theresa (Bill) Frandsen, Platte, SD and Susan (Mike) Kerrick, Blue River, Ore.; six sons, Leonard (Irene) Hanten, Torrance, Calif.; Edmund (Vi) Hanten, White Lake, SD, Oliver (Lorraine) Hanten, White Lake, SD, Anthony (Arlene) Hanten, White Lake, SD, Richard (Dee) Hanten, White Lake, SD and Nick Jr (Pat) Hanten, New Brighton, Minn.; two sisters, Katherine (Matt) Gillen, White Lake, SD and Marie (Bernard) Hanten, White Lake, SD.
