"Married Mary "Polly" Vian, Aug. 31, 1837 in Knox Co., Ohio.
Married Mary Ellen Taylor Piper, Feb. 23, 1868 in Henry Co., Iowa
Believed to be buried next to his second wife, Mary Ellen Taylor Piper Downs, in Oakwood Cemetery, Osawatomie, Miami County, Kansas. He was last found on the 1885 census in Miami County. It is possible that if his wife died previously to him (1891), he may have gone to live with a daughter, Margaret Catherine Downs Watson. No death records, burial records or obituary found in Miami County, so it is just conjecture.
Children of William W. and Mary Vian Downs not listed below include Mary Jane Downs McGoldrick (married Jesse McGoldrick) and George W. Downs--George was last found in Kern Co., California in 1881 when he applied for a share of his Grandfather Vian's estate back in Knox Co., Ohio, and then on subsequent voters' lists in Kern and Solano counties of California until 1892."--Find-a-grave notes
