Per Treva, story from Danny E. Stone, Columbia Ky: "Once my grandfather's house caught on fire. Mildred ran back in to get her father's (Col Frank Wolford) dress sword and her hair was burned off. After she passed away, Kate borrowed the word to have some pictures made of it. She sold the sword to a museum and grandfather couldn't get it back.

Both husband and wife were born in Albermarle county, Va and were married in Casey County, Va. Mr. Wolford was a farmer by occupation, and owned a beautiful country home, where he kept a number of slaves prior to the war. He was a member of the Legislature for about ten years, and for four years represented his district in Congress. His first wife died... and the then married Mahala Lane, who died in Casey County.
