Anton Korb met Fred during a trip to Oregon in 1887. He stayed with Anton for some time, and was converted to the Seventh Day Adventist faith. After awhile, he went back to Minnesota, the state which was his adopted home, attended an Adventist Seminary, fitted himself to be a missionary of that faith. Early in his student life, he married and soon after graduation, he and his wife with their two children, went to Brazil for missionary duty.

Eventually, Fred's parents with his five younger brothers and sisters came to America, apparently settling in Minnesota. When Fred died, his widow and three daughters were still living in Minnesota.
