"Kansan Held In Slaying -- Topeka, Kan. (AP) -- State authorities here Saturday arrested a suspect in the Hill City slaying of Linda Leebrick, a 23-year-old art teacher. Atty. Gen. Curt Schneider said the man, Dennis G. Sanders, 21, was charged with first degree murder. William Albott, director of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, said Sanders lived across the street from Miss Leebrick's apartment.
A formal statement issued by Sheriff Don E. Scott at Hill City said Sanders was arrested shortly after noon Saturday. It said a comparison of evidence taken from his car and from the scene resulted in the arrest.
The battered, partly nude body of Miss Leebrick was found the mroning of April 22 in woods along the bank of the Solomon River about one mile east of Hill City. Death was attributed to a fractured skull. Officers reported bloody tree limbs were found near the body and took pictures of some automobile tire tracks.
Scott reported Sanders was taken to a jail in another county and indicated he probably would be brought into court on Monday for arraignment." 2 May, 1976, Omaha (NE) World-Herald
