JAYNE MARIE LEEBRICK
My sister, Jayne, attended OPHS from 1971 to 1976. She dropped out towards the end of her senior year to marry Mike Haltiwager. She was well-liked and a great student. (She did much better in school than I did, I graduated in 1971). She had a son, Michael Haltiwager, Jr. who still lives in the area and graduated from OPHS. Jayne moved to Los Angeles to become Marketing Manager for ALLMETAL. She loved to travel, her family, friends and LIFE She was a wonderful mom, sister and aunt until she was murdered in 1991. There has been a movie (EVERY WOMAN'S DREAM) and a book (DEADLY PRETENDER) written about my sister's brutal murder. We continue to miss her beautiful smile and personality every day.

Submitted by her sister, Debbie Leebrick 1974

"Suspected bigamist sentenced to life in slaying of 1 wife. SANFORD, FLA--A businessman who investigators say shot and killed his wife because she was about to expose him as a fraud and bigamist was sentenced to life in prison yesterday. David Miller, onetime lobbyist and president of a suburban Los Angeles chamber of commerce, gunned down Jayne Miller in her car as they argued on a Sanford street Sept. 15, 1991.
Relatives and investigators said Miller had another wife in Pittsburgh and had posed as a CIA agent and executive at Walt Disney World. Much of this information was withheld from a jury that convicted him last month. Miller, shackled and handcuffed in court, had nothing to say as Circuit Judge Newman Brock imposed a life sentence at Florida State Prison.
Under Florida law, Miller will serve a minimum of 25 years. In addition, the judge sentenced him to 15 years of probation after his release and stipulated that he is to have no contact with firearms.
'David Miller has shown no remorse in the 17 months since my daughter's death,' the victims father, Richard Leebrick told the judge. 'The only thing he regrets is that the jury found him guilty. He should never be allowed in society again. I hope he spends the rest of his life in the Florida prison system'.
The victim's sister, Sandra Leebrick, also spoke about Miller's lack of remorse and said he had failed to return any personal items and photography that her family had requested. The Leebricks and a private investigator said Jayne Miller,, 33, had discovered that her husband had another wife in Pittsburgh and had lied about his past. Jayne Miller was shot as they argued in the parking lot of a rental storage business in Sanford.
Witnesses said she was about to drive away when Miller pulled a gun from his car, walked to her car and sprayed it with gun shots. Miller and his attorney, Leon Cheek, repeatedly refused to comment about the allegations over a secret life. The other woman, Dorothy Miller, talked to the Leebricks, investigators and reporters by telephone from her home near Pittsburgh after the slaying, confirming that David Miller had led a double life for much of the time they were married.
Dorothy Miller said she had met him in the Los Angeles area in 1979 and married him in 1985. They moved to Casselberry, in Central Florida, in 1989, but her husband kept making trips to California to attend to his business there. Dorothy Miller said she discovered after the slaying that Miller met and married Jayne Miller in 1990 in California at the time he was married to her and maintaining a home in Casselberry.
Miller later convinced Dorothy Miller to move to Pennsylvania on the ruse that her life was in danger because of his CIA work, Dorothy Miller said. Then he and Jayne Miller moved to the Sanford area.
In sentencing him, Brock called Miller 'an articulate, intelligent person' and praised him for using his jail time to take religious courses and study the Bible."--5 Feb 1993, The (Allentown, PA) Morning Call
