"Was strictly upright and conscientious in all his transactions". Name appears in the Bicentennial book of Upper Paxton Township in Dauphin county, Pa in the context of being an early pioneer in the manufacturing of leather. "DISMISSAL FOR OPINIONS. An orthodox gentleman in Sunbury, Pa. has recently dismissed his clerk for his religious opinions. He gave him the following certificate: 'Sunbury, March 17, 1834. This is to certify that A. Brown was in my employ as a clerk, for three months, and was honest and attentive to his business, and gave full satisfaction. he was not turned away for any bad conduct, but merely on the account of his religious principles. But not bad examples--but as a Universalist. GEORGE LEEBRICK.'
George Leebrick here shows how little he prizes honesty. His clerk was an honest man; but this was a slight recommendation compared with orthodoxy. The punishment which Mr. Leebrick richly deserves is this; to obtain some sound orthodox clerk and be cheated out of several hundred dollars by him. This retribution may yet fall upon him. We have known such cases." 26 June 1834, Christian Pilot (Portland, ME)
