Mr. Leebrick did business under the name of "Leebrick's Market", corner of Wilkes Boulevard and North Eighth street. Mr. Leebrick came to Boone county with his parents when he was a small boy, traveling in a covered wagon; and they located on a farm near Hallsville. Mr. Leebrick was the first Columbia merchant to combine meat products, dairy products and all kinds of bread with his groceries, and he was the first Columbia merchant to install electric refrigeration as part of his store equipment. At first, many persons made sport of such a thing, but later other merchants adopted it.
Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Christian church for Fred T. Leebrick, a grocer in Columbia for 32 years who died Saturday morning at Noyes Hospital following an extended illness. Burial was in Columbia cemetery. In addition to the active pallbearers given Saturday, the following honorary pallbearers were named today: W. S. Head, Klon Rimmer, Gray Whitesides, Stanley Woods, Arch Prather, Kemper Reid, George Brady, Marvin Blackmore, George S Starrett, L. B. Eubank, Ralph Compton, J. Ruby Hall and J. W. Armstrong.

"Resignation Offered In Highway Division Change --The creation of a general services division to take over some of the functions of six other divisions today brought an offer of resignation from the head of one of them.
Chairman Lawrence Blackwell of the Arkansas Highway Commission said Director of Accounting Fred Leebrick offered to resign because the new "housekeeping" set up would relieve him of the responsibility of the IBM and stockroom operations. Blackwell said Leebrick thinks the reorganization is a "mistake" and contrary to his conception of they system. He didn't elaborate.
The commission is to decide later today whether to approve the plan,, which was advanced by Highway Director F.R. Oliver, and to decide whether to accept Leebrick's resignation.
The new division would be temporarily headed by Raif Smith, Oliver's assistant, and would include the personnel, data processing, records, purchasing, reproduction and buildings and grounds sections. Leebrick is apparently the only division head who objected to the reorganization, which Oliver said is in the interest of administrative efficiency." -- 2 Mar 1960, Arkansas Democrat (Little Rock, AR)
"Aide to Fill Road Agency Vacated Post --Highway Director F.R. Oliver appointed J. J. Schamer acting director of accounting for the state Highway Department yesterday.
Oliver also announced that Fred T Leebrick, who said Wednesday that he was quitting March 31 as director of accounting, had been relieved of his responsibilities as head of the Accounting Division.
Oliver said Schamer was assistant director of accounting and had had many years of experience with the Highway Department. Shamer is to be acting director of accounting, Oliver said, because "it is better to have a man who's going to stay on be in charge."
Leebrick was provoked into resigning by the Highway Commission's decision to organize a new General Services Division, including some of Leebrick's duties. Leebrick also said he did not care to work under Administrative Assistant Raif M. Smith, who set up the reorganization.
In his letter of resignation, Leebrick said there "has been very little use of, or desire for, good accounting" in the Department but Oliver said yesterday that was "a lot of hooey." "We couldn't run an organization of this kind without good accounting." Oliver added." -- 4 Mar 1960 Arkansas Gazette (Little Rock, AR)
