VIRGINIA (HARTZELL) LEEBRICK Virginia Leebrick '42, of Atwood, Kansas, has recently returned to an interest in art that she had while in college. Now, as a portrait painter, she has won recognition and has had several exhibits. One of her pastels was featured on the Sterling College Christmas card in 1987.
After graduation from SC, she taught English and Latin for several years in McDonald, Kansas. There she met her future husband, and after their marriage they began farming southwest of Atwood. They have lived in their present home for 41 years. There they brought up four children, one of whom, Dave, is a 1969 SC graduate. Dave's wife, the former Susan Gardner '69, is an alumna.
After her marriage, Virginia taught school for fourteen more years while the children were all in school. She and her family have been active in the Herndon Covenant Church, a small rural church about 25 miles from their farm.
"I have come to believe, "she says, "that any service which God has enabled to give to Him and to others has been made possible solely through the grace of God, who pours out His mercy, love, and creativity upon His children and gives to them richly all things to enjoy."
